They've retired Hall of Famer and all-time Twins home run leader Harmon Killebrew's #3, Hall of Fame pitcher Bert Blyleven's #28, Rod Carew's #29, and Kirby Puckett's #34, as well as franchise greats like Tony Oliva's #6 and Kent Hrbek's #14. Two-time World Series-winning manager Tom Kelly's #10 is retired, as is recent franchise icon, hometown hero, and probable future Hall of Famer Joe Mauer's #7.

The Twins have some elite prospects in their farm system heading into the 2021 season who should help the franchise for many years to come. Their top prospect is the 2017 #1 overall pick, shortstop Royce Lewis. The five-tool prospect projects as a top-of-the-order hitter early on in his career once he makes his way up to the big leagues, and he should be ready to contribute at the Major League level sometime in 2022. Another huge prospect of their is outfielder Alex Kiriloff, who was the team's first round pick out of high school back in 2017. Kiriloff has a tantalizing mix of both hit and power tools that should make him a mainstay in the middle of the Minnesota lineup sometime in 2021. Their 2018 first rounder Trevor Larnach is another very good outfield prospect who Twins fans should expect to see on the Major League club in 2021.

The Twins have been a very solid ballclub over the last half decade or so, but haven't advanced past the ALDS under the current regime. They have a lot of talent in their lineup and major prospects like Alex Kiriloff waiting down on the farm to be called up and contribute, but as is the case for most teams, they'll likely only go as far as their starting pitching will take them in 2021. Beyond their ace Jose Berrios, they'll need starters like Michael Pineda, Kenta Maeda, and J.A. Happ to pick it up and carry them through the long grind of a season. This should be a playoff team, but we'll see what Minnesota is made of come September.

The Twins manager is former MLB Manager of the Year award winner in 2019, Rocco Baldelli. Baldelli is in his third year at the helm in Minnesota, and has guided the Twins to the postseason and AL Central titles in each of his first two years as manager. The Twins are in great hands with Baldelli guiding the way, and should figure to be playoff contenders for years to come.
