The McKale Center opened in 1973 and today is one of the most well known college basketball arenas in the country. The University of Arizona typically leads the PAC-12 in attendance thanks to their great basketball tradition. A lot of the Wildcats success over the years was due to the efforts of former coaching legend Lute Olsen. In 2001, the court was renamed "Lute and Bobbi Olson Court", Bobbie being Lute's late wife.
