Field Dimensions

Dodger Stadiums field dimensions are as follows (all measurements from home plate): 330ft to Left-Field, 375ft to Left-Center, 400ft to Center, 375ft to Right-Center, and 330ft to Right-Field. It is 55ft from home plate to the backstop. Dodger Stadium was once known as a pitcher's ballpark, however in recent years it has become more of a neutral field.

Field Box

Unfortunately the Dodgers Stadium seating chart is one of the more confusing seating charts in the MLB. Some of the most desired seats, the Field Box sections are also known as Prime Ticket Club sections. Tickets in this section provide access to the exclusive Prime Ticket Club, as well as complimentary food, soft drinks, and concierge service. To be clear, if the tickets just say "Field" 41, or "Box" 41, this will be the 2nd section off the field. At Dodger Stadium the Field Box sections are closer to the action compared to the field level seats. So when buying Dodgers tickets make sure that if you have the choice you get "Field Box Seats".

Best Seats

The Best Seats for an LA Dodgers game are located in the Field Box sections behind the backstop and around the infield. If you cannot score tickets in those sections, any tickets in the Loge MVP level sections 101-136 are a great option as well.

Dugouts and Bullpens

The Los Angeles Dodgers Bullpen is located in front of sections 9-15, and the visitors dugout is located in front of sections 6-10. The Dodgers bullpen is located between sections 53, 167, and 301. The visitors bullpen is located in front of sections 52, 168, and 302.

Seats in Shade

If you are looking for seats in the shade at Dodger Stadium, you want to try and stick to tickets on the third base side of the field. These seats will be mostly in the shade during day games. If you cannot score tickets on that side of the field, the last few rows in in the field, loge, and lower reserve will be under the cover of the section above, which provides nice cover from the rain.

Restrooms

All restrooms on the top deck, reserve and loge levels were completely renovated and enlarged. The restrooms in the pavilions were moved to under the pavilions and "Family restrooms" have been created on all levels.

Family Activities

First off, children under 3 don't need a ticket, so if you are thinking of bringing your kid to the World Series, you should. Second, there are children's play areas on the 1st base and 3rd base sides on the reserve level. There's also 5-foot high sculptures of the team's retired numbers outside the entrance to the upper reserve level, as well as life-size bobblehead replicas and MVP, Cy Young and Gold Glove awards at the entry plazas on the reserve levels.

Seat Numbers

The direction of the seat numbers in Dodger Stadium is the same for every section regardless the level. For example seat number 1 in section 8RS will be on the aisle next to section 6RS, while seat number 24 (of 8RS) will be on the aisle next to section 10RS. So seat number 1 will always be closer to the adjacent section with the lower section number and vice versa for the higher seat numbers.

Retail Store

A new LA Dodger's retail store was built at the Top of the Park location behind home plate. It's open daily, along with the Top of the Park ticket office. A 2nd retail store was built on the reserve level on the 3rd base side. A state-of-the-art Wi-Fi network and cellular antenna system to support cell phone and Internet connectivity from mobile devices is expected to be completed in June of 2013.

History and Overview

Dodger Stadium is home the Los Angeles Dodgers (formerly Brooklyn Dodgers) and is the 3rd oldest baseball stadium in the MLB, behind Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. Dodger stadium opened for the 1962 season, and has the largest seating capacity of any baseball stadium, with a capacity of 56,000. In 2008, the Dodgers announced a $500 million project to build a Dodger museum, shops, and restaurants around Dodger Stadium.
